Gardening Jobs for the Autumn

As the crunchy leaves fall and the temperature begins to dip, it’s the perfect opportunity to get work done in your garden. So, find quality garden equipment for hire, put on your gardening gloves and apron, and let’s get started!
Make New Plants from Cuttings
If you have hardwood herbs or natives growing in your garden, now’s the best time to start taking cuttings. Make them approximately 10 cm long and dip swiftly into hormone powder before placing in appropriate containers and surrounding with quality potting mix. Water occasionally and keep them away from any direct sunlight.
Start a Compost Bin/Heap
Thanks to all of those extra leaves lying on your lawn, there’s never been a better time to start a useful compost bin. Not only will the hearty compost make for an excellent fertiliser, but it will also help to remove the leaves from the grass, keeping it healthy throughout the colder months. Remember, if leaves are left to lie there for too long, the grass will suffocate and quickly die.
Check on Weeds
If you have recently applied a weed killer to your weeds, be sure to check that they are dying. If not, apply generously once again and aerate the grass with a garden fork. You can also prevent future weed growth by scattering some lime across it. It also helps to sweeten the soil and rejuvenate the grass after a treatment.
