Talisman Hire, SA’s favourite tool and equipment hire company, has entered into a product co-branding partnership with Diamond Products - a specialist in the manufacture, assembly and sales of diamond tools and equipment for heavy industries.

The two companies entered into the agreement recently to co-brand a range of diamond blades, in order to provide customers with the highest standard of quality products, backed up by dedicated after sales and technical support, notes Talisman managing director Colin du Plessis.

''We have been working closely with Diamond Products for more than 10 years, and have developed a strong working relationship during that time, thanks to the company's excellence in product and service delivery. By entering into this co-branding agreement together, Talisman and Diamond Products are providing customers with the peace-of-mind that they will be given the best value for money on a continuous and consistent basis."

Talisman has 62 stores nationwide, and Du Plessis highlights the fact that the Diamond Products range of blades is among the strongest in the country. "We consistently work on improving our brand on a regular basis, as high quality branded products are very important to us. Diamond Products is very popular among our customer base, and the co-branding will add great value."

Diamond Products director Brian Clark believes that the co-branding initiative will enable both companies to expand their respective footprints. "Talisman is recognised as the preferred hire company for industry professionals nationwide, and its tried-and-trusted reputation will help to boost the Diamond Products range as a result of the co-branding," he explains.

Talisman's main customer base is in the construction- and other industries, while DIY also makes up a measurable share for the company, adds Du Plessis. "Talisman stocks more than 100 different types of light equipment, focusing on non-operated equipment. Logistically, we are geared to transport and service lighter equipment, and we have a national network of stores."

From humble beginnings in 1993 as a single hire business, Pretoria-based Talisman Hire has rapidly expanded over the past 20 years to become recognised as an industry leader in its field. "In the early days of operations, we found that there was demand for equipment further away from the Pretoria base and, in 1997, we decided to establish franchise opportunities. Today, we have 62 stores which are all independently owned by hands-on owner franchisees focussed on service excellence,"Du Plessis continues.

In order to ensure that this high standard of service is maintained, Du Plessis points out that the company hosts annual 'Product Open Days', in order to provide all suppliers, store owners and managers with the opportunity to network with each other. The 2012 Talisman Day was held in August, and attracted a record 95 per cent attendance. Du Plessis adds: "All guests were given the chance to learn about new industry trends and products, while interacting with their colleagues.  What's more, it provides Talisman with the chance to thank them for all of their hard work and continued support during the course of the year."

Looking to the future, Du Plessis is optimistic of Talisman Hire obtaining measurable growth in the short term. "Despite the challenging conditions created by an uncertain global economy, Africa as a whole is displaying signs of tremendous potential, and I believe that we can expand our footprint across additional areas in South Africa, while entering new and exciting markets north of the border," he concludes.
